Tell me a story: how narratives and symbolism help us make sense of health in a herbal consultation.
This event is dedicated to herbal practitioners from a range of different disciplines, including TCM, Ayurveda and Western Herbal Medicine.
The topic for the session is the use of storytelling and symbolism as a tool to connect with clients in herbal consultations. The use of metaphors in biomedicine is well established, and Western Herbal Medicine often relies on symbolism and metaphors, as well as delving into patient narratives to make sense of illness. The speakers will provide knowledge and insights into how storytelling, myths and symbolism can be used to connect with patients and help patients to build relationships with the plants and their health.
