In this talk with The Association of Master Herbalists, Marcos Patchett will be discussing how Cacao is processed in contemporary Central America and will demonstrate some of the tools and techniques used to transform Cacao beans into impressive culinary and medicinal beverages. He will also be describing some of the plant admixtures in traditional Cacao formulations, and defining some principles for working with this remarkable plant ally.
You will learn:
- How Cacao was cultivated, harvested and processed to produce beverages
- What traditional implements and methods were used in Cacao processing
- What difference processing makes to the flavour, pharmacology and effects of Cacao
- Some traditional Cacao admixture plants, their culinary purpose, and uses as medicines individually and in combination with Cacao
- Some traditional beverage formulations incorporating Cacao
